La, la, la-la......Life goes on. And by design, mind you. If we're going to have another war, er, I mean conflict, on foreign soil, we cannot endure another Vietnam. So let's make it all about "Terror." We must attack them where they live because they will attack us. And let's not make the same mistake that we made in Vietnam by letting the Liberal Media show all the negatives of war. Bleeding heart bastards! Let's not show the dead being returned in their flag draped coffins. Let's call for the flag to be half staff when an ex-president dies or when some disturbed student unloads on campus creating a shameful tragedy. But let us not lower the "Stars and Stripes" to honor the 3335 American deaths since the war began. Or the 3196 since "mission accomplished." Even still, never let the cat out of the bag regarding civilian deaths. Oh, no. Can't have those America hating, flag burning Liberals crying over 60,000 plus civilian deaths. S

There is something about a Spring weekend with temperatures in the mid Seventies that makes you forget all the hardships of Winter; even if it was a rather mild one at that. The Ghia is out from under wraps. We had our first BBQ and fire of the season. A slew of people, good food, conversation and laughter. My Grandson Dom and Brielle were present and playing (chasing) them was great fun. I had to work the weekend but I made the most of what time I did have. Met with some friends at the Beagle Club on Friday night. Raked a portion of my lawn on Saturday and took the "Little Hottie " out for her maiden voyage of the season. The Red Sox swept the Yankees. I have always held a deep dislike (hate) for the Yankees. Any team that would buy its way into the playoffs shows just what is wrong with professional sports. I was a big Indians fan in the nineties due to the experiment of putting old veterans with a bunch of rookies and letting a team play as a team. When the Marlins (ano

Good meal

It was rather crowded and a long line shuffled into the tent waiting to be seated. In the midst of all the shit going on, I thought that I'd take the time to walk over and say "Hi" to Don Imus. He and Deirdre were moving their way forward without the usual entourage to interfere and I strolled over. "Hey, Imus," I said. Never one with the words. "Oh, hey Tim," he replied and signaled for us to cut before him in line. We threw about the usual small talk and took our seats. His Deirdre to his right and my Deirdre to my left. We ate well and felt comfortable in our silence. Deirdre and Deirdre should have sat together. They can charm almost anyone. You don't really see their real mastery of charm on television but you don't forget them after meeting them in person. Imus, for a person who has made a living on talk and personality (or lack of it, some would say) is a quiet person off the air. He'll have more time to be quiet now, won't he

Two new discoveries - Two old vices

King William IV is by far the best blended Scotch for such a low, low price that I am amazed. Equal to the very expensive Glennlevett. My new Church Warden's pipe. Great deal. Didn't want to part with the money but I flipped a coin (as I always do) Heads equal "Yes." On a nice night, nothing adds to good company while porch sittin like a nice pipe and a Scotch. Tis true!

Why Freemasonry? Truth is, this organization has lost it's way. It is almost wholly a charitable organization now. And there is nothing wrong with that. At it's root, it was somewhat of a watchdog organization; hence the charge of it being at the forefront of creating a "New World Order" the charge of which may be partially true. As stated in my earlier post, many ideas behind the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights, were inspired by Masonic ideas that saw their birth after the inquisition that was blessed by both Church and King. To quote the former Republican Senator and now ordained Minister John Danforth, "At its best, religion can be a uniting influence, but in practice nothing can be more divisive. For Politicians (or Governments ..mine..) to advance the cause of one religious group is often to oppose the cause of another." This was fully recognized by the founding fathers who were battling to create a form of government that was summed with the

Knights Templars to Freemasons

A few of you have expressed interest in knowing a little about the fraternity known as the Masons. As usual, anything so steeped in mystery creates monsters & legends for the uninitiated to fear and loathe. So, for no other reason than that you, my readers, and some of you my friends, albeit via the blog o' sphere, having asked questions and having shown some interest, I will try and supply you with a brief run down on my perspective on this "Secret Society." I n 1717 Britain, organized speculative Masons (as opposed to operative or working masons) emerged as a fraternity to inspire Brotherly Love, Relief and Truth; also known also as Liberty, Equality and Fraternity. It is known as "A system of morality veiled in allegory and illustrated by symbols." O ne might ask, "Why? Isn't this just another religion or perhaps a substitute for those that have no religion?" I f you had to put a name to the most violent and divisive power in all of history

Seeking John

Last night I dreamed that John stopped by my flat. He looked slightly unkempt and wore the clothes of the working man. Although we both know that he is rather wealthy, this is John. Never precocious, a little uncomfortable in his own skin but never appearing as being nervous. He stopped in without calling, knowing that for him, the door was always open. Although that was once true for anyone who came to call, it is now more the exception than the rule. We had our usual small talk as he went right for the pot of stew on the cooker. Not bothering for a bowl, he vigorously ate several spoonfuls before moving onto something else. "I always liked this one," he said. I sat amused by his choice of tunes. I read the news today oh boy About a lucky man who made the grade And though the news was rather sad Well I just had to laugh......................... I understood John in that wordless way, and he, me. Complex in our simplicity and wishing everyone well; for in so doing we rec
